'I Love Philly Day' set for Valentine's Day

An interfaith rally will be held at Love Park, Saturday, to coincide with Valentine's Day.

Love Park on Saturday will deliver one big, live valentine to Philadelphia.

The first "I Love Philly Day," is being put on by the Mayor's Office of Faith-Based Initiatives and the House of Umoja, a nonprofit focused on gang mediation and neighborhood development.

The day will consist of interfaith speakers, music and poetry, all with a focus on reasons to love Philadelphia.

"Somehow we've gotten into a 'Nega-delphia' state of mind," Councilman Curtis Jones Jr., said at an announcement about the event today. "We need to turn those shrugs into hugs. The idea is to be a little kinder to one another."

It's also to celebrate Philly's firsts, Jones said, and its champions - even if current sports teams aren't giving fans much to cheer about.

The rally will be held Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Love Park.
