Anthony Gargano makes surprise appearance on 97.5 The Fanatic

It’s smart to expect the unexpected on Aprils Fools Day, but I don’t think anything expected to turn into 97.5 The Fanatic on Wednesday afternoon and hear the voice of Anthony Gargano.

It's smart to expect the unexpected on Aprils Fools Day, but I don't think anyone expected to tune into 97.5 The Fanatic on Wednesday afternoon and hear the voice of Anthony Gargano.

Gargano, last heard from back in December before vanishing from the SportsRadio 94.1 WIP radio show he co-hosted with Rob Ellis, surprised everyone when his voice randomly returned to Philadelphia to open Mike Missanelli's show on 97.5 the Fanatic.

"Gooood afternoooooon everybody," Gargano blasted to open Missanelli's show, which is in a heated ratings battle with Tony Bruno and Josh Inness, who took over the 1-6 p.m. slot at 94.1 WIP he vacated after reportedly being offered a low-ball contract.

"As I sit here looking out at Bala Cynwyd, my head is spinning, where am I?" Gargano asked as the theme of the Twilight Show played in the background.

Gargano continued on for 12 minutes, not mentioning anything about a post-WIP landing spot or any future plans. He didn't even bring up Primo's Hoagies, an oft-mentioned sponsor of his former radio show, before ending his surprise spot with a simple, "Goodbye."

After the break, Missanelli returned with his usual intro music as if nothing happened, never mentioning Gargano.

The only question is will I have to add Gargano to my "radio war" cartoon?
