Temple student makes miraculous half court shot
A Temple student named Dan hit a half-court shot that won him $10,000.
College basketball promotions have been around for ages, with the half court shot being the crown jewel of them all. It is not often that a student or fan can step up and drain a shot from 47 feet away, and they are typically rewarded in a big way if they do.
On Saturday, a student at the University of Virginia drained a shot on ESPN's College Gameday that netted him $18,000. Making a shot for that kind of money is a rare feat that might not happen every year.
Well, it happened twice twice this weekend. On Sunday afternoon, a Temple student named Dan stepped up to the halfcourt line of the McGonigle Hall and got nothing by nylon, earning him a solid $10,000 prize.
The Temple women, however, were not so lucky. They took a 83-49 beating at the hands of the Connecticut Huskies, the number two team in the nation.
Here's the shot that gave Dan a little more than just some extra beer money.
