A Chester County man who subjected dogs to unthinkable torture in and out of the dog fighting ring and made his young children witness the carnage, will spend the next 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison.
Shane Santiago pleaded guilty to running a gruesome dog-fighting operation out of his house in West Brandywine Township with his wife for years. He also pleaded guilty to child endangerment and other charges.

The Chester County sentencing judge Tuesday said he found 34-year-old Santiago's treatment of animals incomprehensible, the Associated Press reports.

Authorities say his children were exposed to grisly scenes including an animal being stomped to death by a group of men and a pit bull eating another dog.
Santiago's wife Laura Acampora was sentenced last week to 23 months in prison for failing to shield her five children, ages 3 to 15, from the horror.

A trail of abandoned dogs, including one found burned in his cage and left by the side of the road, led authorities to Santiago and his wife. Another badly injured dog dumped and left for dead, Radar, was nursed back to health. More from the Daily Local here.
When authorities raided Santiago's home on Dec. 5, 2012, they found equipment used for training dogs for fighting, including treadmills, tools to incite biting, steroids and a noose used to hang a dog that bit one of the couple's children..
