Puppy mills. Factory farming. Dog fighting. Cock fighting. The Humane Society of the United States has been at the center of virtually all of the most high profile animal cruelty investigations in the country.
Tonight HSUS chief Wayne Pacelle speaks at a town hall meeting in Philadelphia, the first in a nationwide tour.
Expect disgraced NFL star Michael Vick to be a topic of discussion. HSUS has drawn criticism from its own members and others in the animal welfare field for teaming up with Vick in an effort to reach young people in inner cities before they get caught up in dog fighting activities. (Perhaps Vick's first mission might be to the Baltimore neighborhood where someone set the young pit bull on fire as a crowd gathered in the street to watch.)
HSUS Pennsylvania director Sarah Speed joins Pacelle to talk about key animal welfare priorities here.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be held at the University of Pennsylvania, Hall of Flags Room Houston Hall 3417 Spruce Street.
