A South Jersey fisherman who was reported missing in the waters of Little Egg Harbor separating Long Beach Island and mainland Ocean County was not found Saturday after a second day of searching, a New Jersey State Police spokesman said.

The search for Christopher Hugg, 45, of Tuckerton, in Ocean County, was suspended shortly before 3 p.m. Saturday because of the weather, State Police spokesman Alejandro Goez said.

Hugg was last reported to be on his 17-foot Bowrider vessel at 8 p.m. Thursday in the area of Hither Channel off of Little Egg Harbor. He was out clamming when he called a relative to report he had run aground but did not need help.

Goez did not immediately know if the State Police planned to search again on Sunday.

Efforts to reach family members of Hugg on Saturday were not successful.
