Pope Francis receives rookie baseball card from Phillies

The weekend of Pope Francis' visit to Philiadelphia used to be such a long way down the road, but now it is as impending as the MLB playoffs in which the Phillies won't be playing. But not everyone is stockpiling groceries and boarding up their windows in fear of multitudes of outsiders descending upon the city. Some are putting some effort into embracing the papal visit - like the Phillies, who again, don't have a lot else going on anyway.

The Phillies have revealed the Pope's immortalization on a baseball card, seen below being held in an as yet unidentifed massive green, furry hand.

So, as Ryan Howard heads to the hospital from an emergency knee drain and Andres Blanco is forced into clean-up hitting for the first time in his career, keep in mind the Phillies may very soon have a new fan with some connections that could really help turn things around.

Next season, obviously. 2015 is far beyond saving.
