Growler Stop: Beer and pizza due at 22nd and South
Next up for the corner is Growler Stop, a project that made its presence known in the neighborhood over the weekend by way of a banner advertising bottles (6- and 12-packs), sandwiches, and brick-oven pizza.
The northwest corner of 22nd and South Streets has been quiet for a year and a half, since longtime bar/restaurant L2 shut down. (The spot was a short-lived '90s Stephen Starr vokda/cafe bar called Cafe Republic, and for years before that was Linoleum, a retro restaurant.)

State records show no record of a liquor-license application. (For that matter, L2 was operating without a valid liquor license in its final months, state authorities had told me at the time.)
Also on the way in the neighborhood - due to open within several weeks - is Los Camaradas, a Mexican bar replacing The Strip Joint and SoWe at 22nd and Carpenter Streets.
