A developer has ordered one "to go" at Little Pete's - and the quirky 24/7 diner, which has held down the corner of 17th and Chancellor Streets across from the Radisson Warwick Hotel for 36 years, appears to destined for a date with the wrecking ball.
But it won't be soon.
John Koutroubas, who with his brothers owns the corporation, said he learned Thursday afternoon that a 300-room hotel will be erected on the site.
The building that houses Little Pete's, along with a nail salon, flower shop and parking garage, will be razed next year.
The $125 million, 300-room hotel, due to open in 2016, will have a posh restaurant at the top, according to a statement by DAS Architects.
Koutroubas said he had been waiting for the day this would happen and said he believed that the restaurant's closing would be a year away - though work on the hotel is due to begin in the spring. The brothers own another Little Pete's near the Art Museum.
