Daniel Bryan forced to vacate WWE Intercontinental championship due to injury

For the second time in less than a year, WWE superstar Daniel Bryan has been forced to vacate a title due to injury.

Last year, Bryan was forced to relinquish the WWE World Heavyweight Championship due to a neck injury. On Monday, he was forced to vacate the Intercontinental title due to a number of injuries.

During his announcement, Bryan said that he had an MRI on his shoulder last week and was told by doctors that there was no timetable for when he would be able to return to the ring. He was also told that there is a chance that he may never return to action.

Like the WWE World Heavyweight title he won last year, Bryan won the Intercontinental title at WrestleMania. While he got to defend the WWE World Heavyweight title on one occasion, Bryan was forced to relinquish the Intercontinental title without having a chance to defend it.

WWE announced on its web site that the Intercontinental championship will be up for grabs in an Elimination Chamber match on Sunday, May 31 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
