NextFab Studio, physicist/restauranteur Evan Malone's design, engineering and computer-controlled custom fabrication workshop at the University City Science Center, says it is preparing a second, five-times-larger 21,000-square-foot workshop at 2025 Washington Ave. in South Philadelphia.
The former ornamental iron works will be redesigned by Philadelphia design firm inHabit to offer 24-hour access to private studios, water-jet cutters, 3-D printers, crane, painting, loading dock, vehicle lift and other services and studios, plus a street-level cafe. Malone, son of cable TV and media mogul John Malone, plans to open this summer. More at nextfabstudio.com.
