Horsham-based developer Toll Bros. has resumed its efforts to build a residential tower on the Jewelers Row shopping street in Center City.

Timothy Spreitzer, a spokesman for the Toll's urban-focused City Living division, said in an email Thursday that the company has "filed a new application for zoning approval based upon community input and will continue to work with the city throughout the approval process."

The company first announced its plan in August 2016 to demolish several jewelry store buildings on the 700 block of Sansom Street and replace them with a 16-story condo tower.

Toll later sought zoning for a 29-story building at the site but failed to provide the city's Department of Licenses and Inspections with requested details about its plan after more than six months, prompting the agency to cease consideration of the proposal in July.

The company said at that time that it would begin work on approvals for a 23-story tower.

Spreitzer offered no details Thursday on the height or other attributes of the building for which it is now seeking approvals.
