More than $6.5 million was pledged Thursday during the 11th annual Alex Scott Telethon at CBS3, a 14-hour affair that included the TV station's talent, on-air personalities from 98.1 WOGL, 1210 WPHT,  KYW Newsradio 1060, 92.5 XTU,  94 WIP, and  Today's 96.5, as well as Alex's parents, Liz and Jay Scott.

It was a new record for the event, which has raised $24 million over the years for pediatric cancer research through the Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation.

CBS3's Jim Donovan, Rahel Solomon, Meisha Johnson, Ukee Washington, Jessica Dean, Lauren Casey, Don Bell, Stephanie Stahl and Vittoria Woodill, were also joined by former anchor Pat Ciarrocchi, who returned to the station to cohost part of the telethon.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation grew from a lemonade stand set up in 2000 by Alex Scott, then a 4-year-old cancer patient who decided to raise money to fight cancer in children. Her death in 2004 didn't stop her dream, which has grown into a national effort.

On Saturday,  Alex's "Original" Lemonade Stand will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the elementary school Alex attended, Penn Wynne, in Wynnewood.
