A body found in shrubs near Franklin Mills Mall has been identified almost three weeks after its discovery. The cause or manner of death of Brian Miller, 29, is still unknown, but authorities said that there were no obvious signs of physical trauma.
On Sept. 13, a passer-by found Miller's body on Franklin Mills Circle, clothed, lying in bushes. Miller's address was not disclosed. Toxicology results are pending.
Man shot dead in Frankford
George Williams, 24, was shot to death outside the Platinum Sports Bar, on Torresdale Avenue near Worrell Street, in Frankford, shortly before 2 a.m. yesterday.
Williams, of Massey Street near Elmwood Avenue, in Elmwood, was shot multiple times in the torso and legs. He was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at 2:44 a.m.
Argument ends in S. Phila. death
A 22-year-old man was shot to death at 7th and Moore streets in South Philadelphia shortly after 4 a.m. yesterday.
The man, whose identity had not been released, was arguing with an unknown individual who pulled out a gun and shot him four or five times in the chest and torso. He was pronounced dead at Jefferson University Hospital at 8:43 a.m.
Beating victim found in street
Special Victims Unit detectives are investigating the case of a woman who was found badly beaten on a Port Richmond street yesterday morning.
The woman was found by a fire-rescue crew on Ontario Street near H about 6 a.m. She was transported to Temple University Hospital, where she remained yesterday, though her condition was not available.
It was not immediately clear if she was sexually assaulted as well as beaten. Detectives were attempting to interview her for more details yesterday.
Alleged hit-run driver ID'd
Police have identified an alleged hit-and-run driver, who critically injured a bicyclist at 22nd and Market streets about 7:20 p.m. Friday, and charged him with driving under the influence of intoxicants.
Police said that John Glenn, 79, of Philadelphia, was drunk when he ran into the 56-year-old cyclist and left her for dead. Glenn is also charged with leaving the scene of an accident, aggravated assault and related charges. The cyclist, whose identity has not been released, remained in critical condition with severe head trauma at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
A SEPTA police officer followed Glenn from the scene of the accident to where he was taken into custody at 22nd Street and the Parkway.
Burned kitty found in street
A badly burned kitten was found on the streets of Chester about 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The kitten, which had lighter fluid poured on it and burns on half its body, was being treated at a local animal hospital and was expected to survive.
