Police investigating 'suspicious death' of man, 50, in Frankford

Police are investigating what they are calling a "suspicious death" of a 50-year-old man in his Frankford apartment early Friday.

Police are investigating what they are calling a "suspicious death" of a 50-year-old man in his Frankford apartment early Friday.

At 1:54 a.m., officers went to the apartment on the 4800 block of Frankford Avenue after receiving a 911 call of a "person with a weapon," police said.

When they got there, they were met by the man's 27-year-old girlfriend who said her boyfriend was trying to kill himself, police said.

Officers saw the man "leaning into the kitchen sink bleeding," police said in a statement. But the man was dead a minute later. Medics pronounced him dead at 1:55 a.m.

The initial investigation reveals the man, whose name was not released, did not have any wounds and that he had been throwing up blood for several days, police said.

The cause of death will be determined by the Medical Examiner's Office following an autopsy.

Police have not called this a homicide, but homicide detectives are investigating.
