Weekend Planner: A sea change and Dylan
"You don't need a weatherman/ To tell which way the wind blows," the cranky bard penned in Subterranean Homesick Blues.
Worthy weekend weather is forecast with the National Weather Service predicting sunny skies and a slight chance of showers through Sunday.
Temperatures should be pleasant, with highs in the mid-80s and lows in the mid-60s.
At the Shore, ocean temps are returning to normal after a spell of chilly water.
In July, the ocean was 8.1 degrees below normal, said Jim Eberwine, a meteorologist for the weather service.
"It's been warming up," Eberwine said. "Surf temps are getting up into the lower 70s, but they could drop a bit this weekend with the southwesterly winds.
"Right along the Jersey coast there's a nice strip of warm water right now," he said.
Long Beach Island may be the last Shore spot where surf temperatures remain below 70 degrees, Eberwine said.
In Atlantic City, the water temperature stands at 75. In Sandy Hook, the ocean is a big bathtub at a balmy 77.
Bob Dylan, in town for a sold-out gig at the Electric Factory last night, minted one of his best-loved lines in 1965.

We agree. But we put a premium on meteorological intelligence. We like to know how to prepare for the weekend.
