Inqlings: Victorino and Hamels: Pitchmen
Postseason life will not slow down for some Phillies. Agents for Shane Victorino and Cole Hamels say they are weighing tantalizing endorsement offers. This is beyond sundry appearance fees, which vary widely, depending on the event and sponsor. (I hear that during the playoffs, Victorino commanded $7,500 for a two-hour signing.)

Agents for
Shane Victorino
and
Cole Hamels
say they are weighing tantalizing endorsement offers. This is beyond sundry appearance fees, which vary widely, depending on the event and sponsor. (I hear that during the playoffs, Victorino commanded $7,500 for a two-hour signing.)
"We're only weighing high-end sponsorship deals," says
Kurt Wenger
, who handles Victorino's marketing and recently signed the speedy centerfielder with Modell's Sporting Goods.
"His name is very important," Wenger says. "This is not a quantitative issue. It's a qualitative issue."
Hamels and Victorino sold memorabilia Friday night on electronic retailer QVC with Hall of Famer
Mike Schmidt
before Victorino left for Hawaii for his grandmother's funeral. Wenger has more to discuss when he returns. "We weren't talking about [deals] during the World Series because his focus was on playing," Wenger says.
Local deals will have to wait for super-closer
Brad Lidge
, who is headed to Florida to be with his very pregnant wife,
Lindsay
.
Hamels, who has worked for Dunkin' Donuts, Louisville Slugger, Hugo Boss and Adidas, will turn up tomorrow at Macy's in Center City to sell Waterford crystal from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Hamels, who drives a Dodge (part of his deal with a local dealership), won a 2010 Camaro for being Series MVP, and gave it to wife
Heidi Strobel
, who turned 30 the day of the win.
Hamels, who recently signed with MAB Celebrity Sports to market his John Hancock, will fly to L.A. Tuesday to appear on
The Best Damn Sports Show Period
and
Jimmy Kimmel Live
. Hamels was helicoptered to New York Thursday to meet
David Letterman
and do the "Top 10 List" on the
Late Show
.
"Time management is important," says Hamels' agent,
John Boggs
, who met Hamels when the pitcher was a senior at Rancho Bernardo High in San Diego. "We're trying the slow, sure route to strengthen his brand. . . . What's more important is what he does on the field. As he enters the '09 season, he's obviously on a world stage."
A banner year
Perhaps the fan who has everything can pick up the "Go Phillies. Beat the Rays!" banner that Resorts had slapped on a Walt Whitman Bridge billboard. The casino put the 60-foot-by-20-foot vinyl sign on eBay - starting bid $500, free shipping, item No. 320315067374. Proceeds are destined to the United Way of Atlantic County.
She's Miss Howard TV
When the housing market went kablooey, Williamstown-bred real estate agent
Megan Heaton
poured herself into modeling. Her efforts got her notice with
Howard Stern
, and she's Miss Howard TV this month, introducing Stern's On Demand episodes.
Heaton, 25 and a Rutgers-Camden marketing grad, says the work wasn't too hard - reading a 'PrompTer. "But I had to leave [for New York] at 3:30 to get there at 6 a.m., and I had only two hours of sleep," says Heaton, who has a Playboy "Employee of the Month" featurette, which got her an invite to a Halloween party at the Playboy Mansion in L.A. (She was dressed as a French maid, and was not surprised to find she wasn't the only one.) In 10 years, she hopes to have her own business, preferably in real estate, "if the market comes back."
Bonaduce coming back
The writing is on the wall - if not on the contract - that
Danny Bonaduce
will host mornings on WYSP (94.1) starting Nov. 10. Expect official word tomorrow. When I asked Bonaduce a month ago about it, he said: "If they offered me a job in Philly, I would be on the next plane." Bonaduce, the Broomall-bred, onetime
Partridge Family
star, who worked here from 1988 to 1993 on the late Eagle 106, does but one hour a day on CBS's KLSX in L.A. (Bonaduce has been underemployed since he was kicked off
Adam Carolla's
show in December. CBS, which owns WYSP, wants to keep him under contract.) Bonaduce will have his sidekick,
Shila
, and will pick up the producing services of
Michael "Metro" Cerio
, who worked for
Kidd Chris
, fired in May.
Christmas music
Tune to 97.5, and yule hear Christmas music. Programmers at upstart light-rocker WNUW (Now 97.5) decided that the Phillies' World Series win was an early Christmas gift, so they flipped the switch Friday afternoon. It's not clear whether Now 97.5 will ho-ho-ho till Dec. 25, or if this is a stunt.
KYW Newsradio will start streaming Christmas music on its Web site (
» READ MORE: www.kyw1060.com
) tomorrow, commercial-free, through Jan. 4.
Later this week, gospel WPPZ (103.9) will begin sprinkling in secular and religious Christmas tunes. WBEB (B101), which traditionally goes all-Christmas in November, is polling listeners for its start date.
Briefly noted
Center City-bred
Stephanie Gatschet
and three of her former
Guiding Light
costars -
Caitlin Van Zandt
(Ashlee Wolfe),
Bonnie Dennison
(Daisy Lemay), and
Lawrence Saint-Victor
(Remy Boudreau) - will be on the Parkway today for the third annual "Free to Breathe" 5K. Gatschet (who played Tammy Winslow till earlier this year) organized this in honor of her mother,
Nancy Gatschet
, a lung-cancer survivor and local volunteer chair.
A bet's a bet. Fox29 meteorologist
John Bolaris
threw down with his Tampa Fox TV counterpart,
Paul Dellegatto
, over the Series outcome. The loser was to wear the winning team's full uniform. Dellegatto wimped out Thursday and wore only a Phillies jersey.
Thursday was opening night of the Philadelphia Theatre Company's world-premiere production of
Unusual Acts of Devotion
by
Terrence McNally
, featuring
Richard Thomas
.
Nathan Lane
, who participated with McNally and Thomas in last fall's gala opening of the theater, was in the audience.
Lauren Hart
will sing and
Gov. Rendell
is expected to show up at a "YoBama" get-out-the-vote rally tomorrow night at the Twenty Manning restaurant near Rittenhouse Square.
Yesterday's lunch crowd at Famous 4th Street Deli in Queen Village went wild as Phillies manager
Charlie Manuel
stopped in with fiancee
Missy Martin
, who told owners
Russ and Ilene Cowan
that she's in all the time. (The matzo balls
are
the size of baseballs.) Manuel had eggs and bologna.
