Child drowns in Wildwood motel pool
She had entered the deep end of the pool several minutes before being discovered unresponsive.
A 6-year-old girl believed to be from Philadelphia and on vacation with several family members drowned Saturday afternoon in the pool at the Nantucket Inn & Suites on Ocean Avenue in Wildwood, police said.
When police and fire rescue responding to 911 calls arrived at the motel, the child had been removed unresponsive from the water and other guests were performing CPR, according to a statement posted on the police department website.
An investigation revealed the child had entered the deep end of the pool before being discovered "several minutes" later, police said.
Wildwood Rescue took her to Cape Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead hours later, said police, who reported no suspicious circumstances.
