Less than one of every five registered voters showed up at the polls in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
The results are still incomplete, but voter turnout in this year's city mayoral race appears to be just over 18 percent, about one-third less than the 27.7 percent turnout when Michael Nutter beat Republican Al Taubenberger in the general election four years ago.
The most competitive Democrat-versus-Republican race in the city Tuesday was the 10th district City Council race in Northeast Philadelphia, between incumbent Brian O'Neill and his Democratic challenger, Bill Rubin. That contest pulled out a few more people, but only a few, with voter turnout around 23.9 percent.
