Facts and figures about Dragons junior guard Damion Lee.

Drexel junior guard Damion Lee

Last season stats: Averaged 13.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in five games before tearing his ACL vs. Arizona. He redshirted for the season.

Career highlights: Has 960 career points; second-team All-CAA as a sophomore, when he averaged 17.1 points; he's a first-team preseason All-CAA selection; has scored 20 points or more 14 times; career high is 34 points his sophomore season vs. Old Dominion.

What they are saying: Coach Bruiser Flint: "Damion is one of the best players in the league. Hopefully, he'll be back to being the player he was before he was hurt. After an injury like he had, you look to see if he has confidence in his knee." On Lee's leadership: "[Laughing] Sometimes I have to tell him to stop coaching."

What he's saying: "I'm fine with us being picked fourth [preseason, in the CAA]. The past couple seasons, we were picked high and didn't live up to it. But we're not content with finishing fourth," Lee said. Drexel compiled a 16-2 CAA record in Lee's freshman season: "We thought we were good enough [to continue at that level], but we didn't put in the time to get better. We thought it would just come to us. This team is so young, everyone has to buy into what we're teaching." Lee believes the Dragons' China trip in August was good for team bonding (he practiced but didn't play). "China was complete culture shock. The main difference was the food: here, Chinese food is Americanized. Over there the vendors have scorpion and quail on a stick. It's very crowded. In Shanghai, you saw skyscrapers as far as you could. It's like every major city in the United States put together."

Something you don't know about Lee: "I've written lyrics for songs where I express feelings. I don't sing. It's spoken words or rap. I played the drums, but stopped when I was in eighth grade." He also supports other Drexel teams by attending games "because they come to our home basketball games."
