TED SILARY ON CITY LEAGUES

Frankford vs. Washington

Public AAAA Semifinal

Saturday, 6 p.m., at Northeast

It's tough to beat a good team twice. But Washington must do that to get a shot at exacting revenge against its regular season conqueror, Northeast, in the final. Assuming Northeast gets past Fels in the other semi (at 2). Got that?

Roman vs. SJ Prep

Catholic AAAA Semifinal

Saturday, 7 p.m., at Truman

Good matchup of QB underclassmen - Roman sophomore Michael Keir vs. Prep junior Skyler Mornhinweg. Lots of other quality guys, too.

McDevitt vs. West Catholic

Catholic AA Final

Saturday, 7 p.m., at Ply.-Whitemarsh

Something tells me this one could be a classic. Let's see whether McDevitt's linemen also believe that. One possible deterrent: West can be very explosive.

JOSEPH SANTOLIQUITO ON DELCO

Springfield at Strath Haven

Friday, 7:30

This Central League showdown features two of the hottest teams in the area and two of the best running backs. Strath Haven is on an eight-game winning streak and is playing for a share of the Central League title with Ridley. Springfield is having its best season in more than a decade and is on a five-game winning streak. Cougars star tailback Matt Craig needs three touchdowns to break Marty Brown's school-record 28, set in 1994.

Penn Wood at Chester

Saturday, 10:30 a.m.

A Penn Wood victory means its first Del-Val League championship since 1994 and first District 1 Class AAAA playoff berth. A loss and the Pats will share the league title and will be out of the district playoffs.

MICHAEL RADANO ON SOUTH JERSEY

Willingboro at Northern Burlington

Friday, 7 o'clock

Northern (3-4) can't pick up enough power points to sneak into the Group 3 Central Jersey playoffs, but would love to take away the top spot from Willingboro (7-0) in the South Jersey Group 2 playoffs.

Washington Twp. at Shawnee

Friday, 7 o'clock

The Minutemen (3-4) have won two straight and would love to even their record. Shawnee (4-3) has lost consecutive games, but is getting healthier and will be a force in the Group 4 tournament.

Audubon at Haddon Heights

Friday, 7 o'clock

The Garnets will roll in portable lights for this longstanding rivalry. Heights (4-3) looks to be secure in Group 1, but the Green Wave (3-4) needs a win to make the postseason. If you're looking for an old-style battle, this rivalry should produce a good game because of the extra motivation the playoff picture brings.
