Leak postpones game between Comm Tech, Del Val Charter
Most times, jump shots are what rain down.
Most times, jump shots are what rain down.
And then you had Tuesday's Public C contest, held at Pepper Middle School, in deep Southwest Philly, between next-door Communications Tech and Delaware Valley Charter.
Water rained down from the ceiling.
"We could see the leak, at one of the foul lines, when we first walked into the gym," CT coach Lou Biester said. "We were wiping the area every so often, hoping to keep the wetness down, but it got progressively worse. You worry about someone pulling a muscle, or getting really hurt."
Biester said the game was halted with 1:42 remaining in the first quarter, and with CT ahead, 11-8.
"We were in contact with Charles and Ben," Biester added, referring to Pub hoops honchos Charles Sumter and Ben Dubin. "They were aware of what was going on. Their hope was that we'd be able to finish. Just wasn't possible. The refs concurred."
Biester said the game was listed as "suspended" and will be completed at a date to be announced.
