About the game: This is the Union's first U.S. Open Cup game this season after receiving a bye until the fourth round. Last year the Union advanced to the Open Cup final before losing, 3-1, in extra time to the Seattle Sounders at PPL Park.

About the Rhinos: Rochester earned its game with the Union after a third-round 3-1 win in extra time against the Harrisburg City Islanders, the USL affiliate of the Union. The game was scoreless through 90 minutes of regulation and the first 15-minute overtime period before the teams erupted to score four goals in the second 15-minute overtime period. Rochester had played a man down after the 38th minute when Steevan dos Santos received his second yellow card. He won't be eligible to play against the Union. . . . The Rhinos have allowed just four goals and keeper Brandon Miller recorded his league-leading fifth shutout and lowered his USL-best goals against average to 0.35 in nine games.

About the Union: Goalkeeper Brian Sylvestre, who has started the last six MLS games, is ineligible to play in the Open Cup because he played in the tournament earlier for the NASL's Carolina RailHawks before being sold to the Union on an eight-week loan. John McCarthy will start in goal against his former Rochester team and Andre Blake, who has returned to practice following a second knee surgery, will be the backup.
