Shai Gilgeous-Alexander breaks Wilt Chamberlain's record for most consecutive 20-point games
Gilgeous-Alexander started his streak on Nov. 1, 2024, in a win over Portland. Chamberlain set the previous record, which was 126 consecutive games, from Oct. 1961 to Jan. 1963.

Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander broke Wilt Chamberlain’s record for most consecutive 20-point games with his 127th on Thursday against the Boston Celtics.
Chamberlain set that record from October 1961 to January 1963, with 126 games of at least 20 points for the Philadelphia Warriors. Before Gilgeous-Alexander, Chamberlain also held the second-longest streak at 92 games.
Gilgeous-Alexander started his streak on Nov. 1, 2024, in a win over the Portland Trail Blazers. Since then, he’s won an NBA MVP, a Finals MVP, and his first NBA title. Gilgeous-Alexander scored 35 points in a two-point win over Boston.
“Being in a conversation with a guy like that, it’s special,” Gilgeous-Alexander said after tying the record. “It’s still a lot to even wrap my head around. To be honest with you, I try not to even think about it. So many things have to go right for you to get what you ultimately want.”

The broken record comes just days after Bam Adebayo scored 83 points in a game against the Washington Wizards, the second-most points in NBA history to Chamberlain’s 100-point game.
“His name is there already. It’s a chance for somebody to come up and break a record and be known to break his records,” said Michelle Smith, Chamberlain’s niece, told the Associated Press. “They feel good about it, as well. They made him like a God in basketball, so when people break his records, they feel some kind of way. They feel great like, ‘Oh yeah, I’m up next to Wilt now.’”
