A Lindenwold elementary school has moved to remote learning after a fire damaged the building
Students at Lindenwold School 4 in Camden County will learn online at least through Monday after an accidental roof fire Tuesday night. Families can pick up free meals next week to make up for it.
Students at a Lindenwold elementary school will learn remotely through Sept. 21 after a fire Tuesday night damaged the building.
Lindenwold School 4, located at 900 E. Gibbsboro Rd., was closed Wednesday due to a fire on the school’s roof, which the Lindenwold Fire Department found to be accidental. At the time, the school’s evening facilities staff and a construction crew were on site, but no injuries were reported, officials said.
The school’s telephone and PA systems were disabled after the fire, and the school is still working to make sure their communication systems work and the school is safe and smoke-free, the school district said in a statement Wednesday.
As the school district assesses the damage, students will return to learning Thursday online, and remote learning will continue at least until Monday. Students will have to attend school on Oct. 12, previously an in-service day, as a make-up day, and the school’s open house will be rescheduled.
Parents and guardians can go to School 4’s bus loop on Thursday, either between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., to pick up their children’s Chromebooks and other materials.
Families with School 4 students can also pick up five days’ worth of food on Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to make up for the loss of in-person meals.
