Wayfair is opening a brick-and-mortar store in Cherry Hill
The online home furnishing retailer is adding stores across several states.

Wayfair is opening its first brick-and-mortar stores in New Jersey — and one is slated for Cherry Hill.
The online home furniture retailer announced this week that it expects to open a roughly 86,000-square-foot Cherry Hill store in late 2028 at Market Place at Garden State Park. The shopping plaza includes Home Depot, Wegmans, and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Another store, slated for Princeton. is expected to open next year, the company announced in June.
Wayfair, which is headquartered in Boston, sells home furnishings online including furniture, mattresses, rugs, and small kitchen appliances. The business got its start in 2002 as a collection of online marketplaces. In 2011, the founders consolidated the websites into one platform and adopted the Wayfair name. They have since grown the company to have dozens of fulfillment and delivery centers across the U.S., Canada, and the United Kingdom.
The online retailer has tested out physical stores in the past, trying out pop-up locations. One such location popped up in the King of Prussia mall in 2019.
The business opened its first retail store in 2019 in Massachusetts but closed it in 2020 as many retailers struggled in the pandemic. The company launched its first large format store in 2024 in Wilmette, Ill., spanning 150,000 square feet.
Wayfair is now in the midst of a larger push to open additional retail locations.
The Cherry Hill store will be the company’s 11th brick-and-mortar location. Next year, new stores are also planned to open in Pittsburgh;, Cincinnati; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and Yonkers, N.Y. A store in Altamonte Springs, Fla., is expected to open in 2028 as well. The company opened a location in Atlanta in March and has plans to open another site in Denver later this year.
By opening new stores, the company aims to get shoppers to spend more money with Wayfair, CEO Niraj S. Shah said on an earnings call in February.
“Part of the story is one of awareness,” Shah said. “Walking through a physical store gives every shopper a broad view of the breadth of our categories and the depth of our assortment, often inspiring purchases they didn’t know they could get through Wayfair.”
Wayfair went public in 2014 and brought in $11 billion in net revenue in the U.S. last year.
As of December 2025, the company had 12,800 employees, as well as contractors and other temporary workers, according to a recent filing with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission.
