Man in critical condition after being shot in a South Philadelphia home

Police believe the man was on the second floor when the shooting happened. Multiple fired cartridge casings were found outside the home.

A 22-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot in a South Philadelphia home Tuesday night.

Right before 10 p.m., police arrived at the 1900 block of Tasker Street following the report of a person being shot.

Multiple fired cartridge casings were found outside the home, police said. Inside, the man was in the living room with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police believe the man was on the second-floor bedroom when he was struck. A motive remains unknown, and no arrests have been made.

Officers took him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.

Through Aug. 4, Philadelphia had seen 494 shooting incidents, a 7% decrease compared with the same period last year, according to police crime statistics.
