How many stupid, drunk guys does it take to flip a smart car?

Five. The answer is five, according to Upper Darby police.

Around 3 a.m. Saturday morning, cops in the township responded to reports of a group of "drunked up" men who were flipping over a red smart car that was parked in front of a residence on Dermond Road near Burmont in the Drexel Hill section of Upper Darby, said police Superintendent Michael Chitwood.

And Philly didn't even win a sporting championship this weekend.

Chitwood said when cops arrived, the guys took off running but police were able to stop two of the five nearby on foot.

Those two men - Matthew Rigney, 21, and Douglas Ward, 21 - were charged with criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and related offenses, Chitwood said. Authorities are still trying to identify the remaining three suspects.

"This was just a mean-spirited expensive prank committed by village idiots - and it wasn't even mischief night," Chitwood said. "Fortunately, nobody got hurt, but the smart car will never be the same."

And don't blame us for not capitalizing the 'S' in smart car. The company chose to fly in the face of proper grammar and use all lower-case letters in its name.

Just brilliant.
