Fox 29 viewers haven't seen Mike Jerrick since mid-February, and the anchor now tells fans that his absence has been due to him battling depression at a wellness retreat down south.

"I am at a wellness retreat down south in the Carolinas," Jerrick posted on Facebook Tuesday. "I call it a rehab for the mind, body, and soul."

The Good Day Philadelphia co-host explained in the post that for the last 13 years, he has been fighting a building depression that stems from "losses [he has] not addressed with the help of mental health professionals." Over the last couple years, Jerrick added, "medication and alcohol have not done it for me" and "a combination of the two certainly has not been helpful."

The retreat, Jerrick says, is "working beautifully" and that "it was time to finally confront the negative feelings."

Last week, fellow Good Day Philadelphia co-host Alex Holley told viewers that Jerrick had been off the air to "deal with a personal family issue." Jerrick, meanwhile, said on Twitter last month that he hopes to return to Fox 29 "in a few weeks." In his latest posting, Jerrick says he "will be back with you soon, I promise."

Holley also shared Jerrick's Facebook note with viewers on-air Tuesday morning, eliciting a number of supportive responsive for the anchor:

Jerrick's latest absence comes following a January suspension over his use of an expletive to describe White House counselor Kellyanne Conway's style of public speaking. That suspension lasted a week, with Jerrick returning to Fox 29 later that month to apologize to viewers and ask weatherperson Sue Serio to flash viewers as a way to distract from his situation.

"This show is different than every other show, and I like to take all of our subject matter right up to the line," Jerrick said at the time, adding that Serio should "do something so inappropriate to get me off the hook" like "flash us right now."

An exact date for Jerrick's return to Fox 29 has not yet been set. A spokesperson at Fox had no further comment.
