Longtime CBS3 reporter Walt Hunter announced his retirement last night.

He had been with the station since 1980, and has been a broadcast journalist for 44 years. He was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2007.

Hunter announced his retirement in a decidedly modern way: Facebook Live. He chatted with anchor Ukee Washington about his decision to retire after a long career with the station.

"It's family. That's exactly what we are here, so that's going to be the hard part," Hunter told Washington.

Hunter's last day at the station is May 25.
