Spruce Street Harbor Park one of 'world's best urban beaches'

Philadelphia's Spruce Street Harbor Park was recognized as one of the world's best urban beaches by The Huffington Post.

Travel site Jetsetter.com originally posted the article, which sought, "the best of the bunch, from a hammock-strung stretch of sand in Philly to a floating swimming pool in Berlin."

In the piece, Spruce Street Harbor Park is lauded for its "cozy fire pits" and the pop-up park's best feature, "a traditional wooden boardwalk lined with street food stalls and arcade games…."

First reported in mid-April 2014, Spruce Street Harbor Park opened to the public on June 27 and has been a major hit with locals and visitors. "It's lovely, clean, and quiet," South Jersey resident Pat Ransom told the Inquirer.

Though it's hard to imagine other urban oases competing with this beloved park, check out the list to see which additional city waterside spots made the cut.
