Evan Mathis was added to the Pro Bowl roster on Wednesday in place of New Orleans Saints guard Jahri Evans, who will miss the game because of injury. Mathis, the Eagles' veteran guard, will play in the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive season.

The Pro Bowl will be played on Jan. 25 in Glendale, Ariz., near Mathis' offseason home.

Mathis, an Eagles starter since 2011, has established himself as one of the top guards in the NFL. The 33-year-old missed seven games because of a knee injury, so this was not a season when he seemed likely to earn a bid. But he maintains a strong reputation, and the website Pro Football Focus ranked Mathis as the NFL's second best guard this season.

The Eagles now have six players in the Pro Bowl, including three offensive linemen: Mathis, Jason Kelce, and Jason Peters.
