Washington selling expired World Cup beer at FedEx Field
Washington has for so long been known for its intense ethical standards and classy, respected play. Which is why it's so surprising that an organization held in such high regard, not only in football but in American culture, would be selling its fans beer that expired back in June.
It's not a secret, back room dealing - they print the dates right on the bottle, and allow you to track your beer online, where if your drink is revealed to be past its freshest prime, brewmaster Dan Westmoreland says he'll buy you a new one.
At the very least, anyone looking at the bottle will likely recall that the World Cup, featured prominently on the label, was back in June and July. Something about it now being mid-September stirs a sensation of decidedly un-freshness.
Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post points out that the Redskins have sold peanuts to fans from a failed airline.
So.
