Matt Levin stepping away from Adsum

The chef, formerly at Lacroix, helped conceive the Queen Village bistro a year ago.

Chef Matt Levin is stepping away from the stove at Adsum, the Queen Village bistro he helped to conceive last year.

He and operating partner Kar Vivekananthan call the split amicable.

Though Levin will step out of the kitchen, effective Sunday, July 24, he will retain an ownership interest.

It was a heady year for Levin at Adsum, what with the three-bell LaBan review and the national attention bestowed for Levin's sliders, partiicularly the ones he sandwiched between Tastykake Peanut Butter Kandy Kakes.

Levin tells me that he has another iron in the fire.

Sous chef Rah Shabazz, who's been there since Day One, will be Adsum's chef, executing Levin's menu, Vivekananthan told me.
