Sunday feasting

Peter McAndrews of Modo Mio is putting out a five-course spread on Sundays.

You may still be stuffed from Thanksgiving, but if you're hankering for a feast, there's Sugo Sunday, a weekly series starting Nov. 29 at Modo Mio, Peter McAndrews' smashingly good Italian BYOB on Girard Avenue near Second Street on the northern edge of Northern Liberties.

Sugo means "sauce," and McAndrews will serve five courses of belly-filling southern Italian fare: antipasti, pastas, meats, salad and desserts, for $33 a head, plus tax and tip. Doors open at 3 p.m. and last seating is at 7 p.m. It's cash-only.

He's doing it every Sunday.

"Wear a loose belt," McAndrews advises.

McAndrews also owns Paesano's, a sandwich shop, across the street. He and partner Nathan Baynes are opening a branch in the Italian Market at Ninth and Christian Streets, and it's all ready to go -- as soon as Philadelphia Gas Works decides to drop in to fix the gas line.
