Suppa in Northern Liberties becoming a Samwich

Changeover to happen later this month.

After two years on Liberties Walk in Northern Liberties, Angelo Polito and Georgeann Leaming are converting their bruncherie Suppa into another location of their more casual shop Samwich, with an eye toward opening even more locations.

They plan to close Suppa (1040 N. American St.) on March 27 and reopen as Samwich on March 30.

Polito and Leaming opened Samwich, at Sixth and Catharine Streets in Bella Vista, in January. Leaming says the neighborhood has been receptive.

Since Suppa's most popular items are sandwiches and tots anyway, Leaming said, "we think this will be a smooth transition. Prepping, training, and executing one menu and service style will be more cohesive." The Northern Liberties Samwich will change from full service to a fast-casual (read: counter) service style.

Northern Liberties will still offer weekend brunch, though with a smaller menu.
