Alex Holley’s cardboard cutout fares worse than hitchBOT on Elfreth’s Alley

For the foreseeable future, inanimate objects ought to just stay away from Elfreth’s Alley — just ask Alex Holley’s cardboard cutout.

For the foreseeable future, inanimate objects ought to just stay away from Elfreth's Alley — just ask Alex Holley's cardboard cutout.

Earlier today, Fox29 placed a cardboard cutout of the Good Day Philadelphia co-host in the same spot where hitchBOT was allegedly destroyed in Old City, wondering if it too would be savagely murdered. For some reason, they also decided it needed a life vest:

Now, the visual difference between Alex Holley — a TV host — and hitchBOT — a glorified GPS — is pretty apparent, so one could probably guess that the cutout wouldn't meet the exact same fate. But what did happen was much, much worse:

As you can see, an unidentified man waits patiently, looking at the Holley cutout before he decides to go up and bashfully hump it as a SEPTA bus cuts off the action.

"Thank god for SEPTA," co-host Mike Jerrick says, noting the convenient transit punctuality in this case.

So while hitchBOT might possibly have been killed here in Philly, at least it didn't have to continue living with the knowledge of what happened to it.

Cardboard Alex Holley, on the other hand, was not so lucky.
