The RiverLink ferry that runs between Philadelphia and Camden every summer will now be owned and operated by a joint venture of the Delaware River Waterfront Corp. and the Cooper's Ferry Partnership.
The sale of the 500-passenger vessel to the Delaware River Ferry Co. by the Delaware River Port Authority for $300,000 was approved Wednesday by the DRPA's board.
The DRPA, which wanted to divest itself of the service, had owned the ferry since 2001 and had contracted its operation to private operators since 2004.
Ferry passengers should notice no change, DRPA chief executive John Hanson said, except that service might improve.
