A mob of juveniles got into a scuffle with police early yesterday after breaking into a Northeast Philadelphia home, beating the occupants and stealing about $75, police said.
The group of 20 teens, ranging in age from 13 to 19, left the Jamz Roller Skating Center on Roosevelt Boulevard near Tyson Avenue, missed their bus, and began walking soutbound shortly after midnight Saturday, cops said.
Moments later, the bunch changed course and approached a home on the Boulevard between Knorr Street and Unruh Avenue that was occupied by four men.
They first knocked on the door, then some members of the gang broke through the door yelling obscenities and began punching and kicking the four occupants, police said.
Meanwhile, several others in the mob rummaged through the house and stole cash before they all fled.
Soon after, cops caught up to the group and a struggle between police and two of the juveniles ensued.
Some officers sustained minor injuries, mainly scrapes to their legs and knees, police said.
Two teens were charged in the cops' assaults, and all the teens face charges of robbery, burglary, rioting and related offenses in the home invasion.
Police have not disclosed whether the victims were known to their attackers. *
