Nicetown crash leaves 1 dead
A 23-year-old female motorist was killed and three passengers were injured, one critically, Monday night when their car ran off the road, hit a utility pole and went down an embankment in Philadelphia’s Nicetown section, police said.

A 23-year-old female motorist was killed and three passengers were injured, one critically, Monday night when their car ran off the road, hit a utility pole and went down an embankment in Philadelphia's Nicetown section, police said.
The car was northbound on the Roosevelt Boulevard extension about 10:30 p.m. when it exited the highway at the Germantown/Wissahickon exit, police said.
Approaching Roberts Avenue, the car ran up on a grassy triangle, flew across the road into the pole and down the embankment, police said.
The driver, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 24-year-old man who was sitting in the front passenger seat was taken in critical condition to Albert Einstein Medical Center with a broken arm and facial lacerations.
Two rear seat passengers, a man and woman, both 24-years-old, were taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and observation, police said.
Police accident specialists are investigating.
