Local high school seniors win Comcast college scholarships

Ten high-school seniors from Chester County have been honored by Comcast as leaders and achievers, and will each receive a $1,000 college scholarship for their accomplishments.

Comcast's Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program has selected more than 1,700 students from across the country this year to award for their leadership skills and community service, in addition to academic qualifications.

Nominated by their principals in the winter, the scholarship recipients were announced late April. The winners are:

Candace Depedro of Bishop Shanahan High School - Attending West Chester University of Pennsylvania

Ariel Diliberto of Westtown School - Attending Vassar College

Megan Cronshaw of St. Mark's High School in Wilmington - Attending Penn State University Park Campus

Tierra Fair of The Charter School of Wilmington - Attending University Of Miami

Dana Stuehling of Great Valley High School - Attending Smith College

Jacqueline Smith of Oxford Area High School - Attending Penn State University Park

Dian Yu of B. Reed Henderson High School - Attending Harvard College

Andrew Carter of Phoenixville Area High School - Attending Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades

Allyson Knight of Owen J. Roberts High School - Attending Penn State Berks Campus

Kyle Mattson of Twin Valley High School - Attending Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

   Will Hobson
