Kuandell Drayton, 20, of Pennsauken, was sitting outside a house on the 200 block of Rand Street when a car pulled up at 11:15 p.m., said Bill Shralow, spokesman for the Camden County Prosecutor's office.
Two men got out of the car. One pulled a weapon and shot Drayton in the chest. The men got back in the car and drove away.
Police arrived minutes later to find Drayton dying on the ground.
Early Sunday, a Woodlynne nurse's aide was shot dead near a bar in the city's Bergen Square section. Tierra Pressley, 24, was killed in a spray of bullets as she stood on the sidewalk at 7th and Sycamore streets near the 7th and Kaighn Lounge.
Pressley had been talking with a friend on the street about 2:30 a.m. when an unknown gunman approached and opened fire. Pressley was pronounced dead a short time later. The friend, Andrian Jackson, 32, was treated for multiple gunshot wounds at Cooper University Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. Police have no motive or suspects in the shooting.
As daylight broke on Sunday, a 16-year-old was gunned down in the Whitman Park section. Saluhuddin Igwe, of Lindenwold, was visiting family in the city. He was walking along the sidewalk when an unknown man with a gun approached him and fired several times. Police have no motive or suspects in the shooting.
On Saturday, a man was killed and his younger brother seriously injured following an altercation with a group of men in the city's central Waterfront neighborhood.
Mariano Vega Jr., 28, was arguing with several men near his Chestnut Street home. Vega's brother, Eduardo, 23, joined Vega about 2 a.m. One of the men drew a weapon, fired on both brothers, and ran, police said.
When police arrived, Mariano was dead. Eduardo drove himself to Cooper University Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgury for multiple gunshot wounds to his chest. Investigators have not made any arrests and do not know what prompted the argument.
