Police: Woman, 72, sought ‘muscle’ to beat ex, children

A 72-year-old Cherry Hill woman remains in Camden County Jail after offering to pay an undercover police officer to beat up her ex-husband and relatives.

Suzanne Cohen was arrested on Friday and charged with three counts of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, Cherry Hill police said.

Cohen has a long history of disputes with her family, who cut off communication with the elderly woman some time ago, said Lt. William Kushina, a police spokesman.

"The file on her is a couple inches thick," he said.

For years Cohen's family had been enduring harassment, including threatening notes, visits from Cohen at work and incidents of vandalism. They had tried to get restraining orders against her but were unsuccessful, Kushina said.

Last week Cohen solicited and undercover officer to attack her ex-husband, daughter and son, authorities said.

Cohen's bail was set at $300,000. She is being held with the general population at the jail, a corrections officer said.
