Police: Would-be burglar found hiding inside Somerton pharmacy

A would-be burglar was found hiding inside the CVS pharmacy at 10901 Bustleton Ave. in the Somerton section of Northeast Philadelphia, police said.

A man was found hiding inside a Northeast Philadelphia pharmacy Friday night after allegedly breaking into the store and setting off a burglary alarm.

Officers responded to the CVS at 10901 Bustleton Ave. shortly after 11:30 p.m. Though the store was closed, the rear door was ajar, police said.

Inside, officers discovered a 20-year-old man on the second floor, near a freight elevator. An undisclosed amount of merchandise was located by the rear door, according to investigators.

The store manager told officers the man, whom police described as homeless, was not an employee and did not have permission to be inside the pharmacy.

He was arrested without incident and is expected to face charges of burglary and criminal trespassing, police said.

The suspect had not yet been arraigned Saturday afternoon, and his identity had not yet been released.
