Man dies after Germantown shooting
A 25-year-old man from East Germantown died this week after a group of people in a sedan pulled up beside a Jeep he was sitting in, yelled at him, and then started shooting, according to police.
One of the shots — fired by someone in the sedan — struck Timothy Kenner of the 5500 block of Boyer Street in the head, police said. He was taken from the scene on the 1100 block of Haines Street to Einstein Medical Center around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and pronounced dead at 2 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The incident began when the Jeep was stopped on the 5800 block of Ardleigh Street in East Germantown, police said. As a light-colored sedan with multiple people inside pulled up beside the SUV, the men in the sedan — whom police did not identify — began yelling at Kenner, who was a passenger in the Jeep.
The sedan then pulled in front of the Jeep, police said, and as the Jeep turned from Ardleigh onto Haines, someone in the sedan fired several shots at the Jeep.
Kenner was hit in the head. The Jeep's driver — whom police did not identify - lost control of the car and swerved into another lane, striking a 2013 Audi. A 57-year-old man and 35-year-old woman in that car were taken to Einstein in stable condition.
Police did not identify any suspects and said no arrests had been made. Tipsters can call the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334. As in all murder cases, there is a $20,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
