Surgeon to buy struggling Hammonton hospital

HAMMONTON, N.J. - Some eleventh-hour maneuvering has saved an Atlantic County hospital from possible closure.

HAMMONTON, N.J. - Some eleventh-hour maneuvering has saved an Atlantic County hospital from possible closure.

Officials at Kessler Memorial Hospital in Hammonton had told employees Friday that they couldn't pay them. But later in the day, they reached an agreement to sell the hospital to B. Reddy Dandolu, a cardiovascular surgeon.

Members of the hospital's board of directors also pledged to dig into their pockets, if necessary, to help cover the cost of a $200,000 loan from the town to cover the payroll shortfall. - AP
