Former Pro Bowl linebacker LaVar Arrington was hospitalized yesterday in Cheverly, Md., with serious but not life-threatening injuries after his motorcycle crashed on a highway ramp.

His agent, Carl Poston, said Arrington suffered a broken arm, at least one broken rib and a leg contusion.

Arrington lost control of his 2007 Kawasaki ZX-14 motorcycle and hit a guardrail, Maryland State Police Sgt. Russell Newell said. He said police did not know how fast Arrington was traveling.

Arrington, who turns 29 tomorrow, was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not involved in the accident, Newell said. Arrington was issued two citations - one for operating the motorcycle without a proper license and the other for failure to control speed to avoid a collision.

Asked how long Arrington had been riding a motorcycle, Poston said, "I didn't even know he had a motorcycle."

Arrington's attorney, Rosalyn Pugh, said Arrington was expected to remain at Prince George's Hospital Center overnight and his condition would be re-evaluated in the morning.

Washington drafted Arrington No. 2 overall in 2000 out of Penn State, and he made three Pro Bowl appearances while with the Redskins. Arrington bought out his contract after the 2005 season. Arrington then joined the Giants but tore an Achilles' tendon in October. New York released him in February.

Jones, his group and three other people got into a fight, apparently over a woman, at a club around 4 a.m., officer Ariel Toledo said. Toledo said Jones was not present when the shots were fired.

Manny Arora, Jones' attorney, said he expects Jones will give the police whatever help he can.
