Soul sign former Southern Miss quarterback Dustin Almond
The Philadelphia Soul quietly made a quarterback move Wednesday as they signed former Southern Miss quarterback Dustin Almond and placed current backup quarterback Steven Gachette on recallable reassignment.
Almond, an AFL rookie, was a three-year starter Southern Miss from 2003-05. During his time at Southern Miss, Almond threw for 7,342 yards, 51 touchdowns and 28 interceptions.
Almond led Southern Miss to bowl games every season he was a starter, winning two of them.
Gachette didn't see much in-game action at quarterback this season with Soul with only four pass attempts, completing three. He spent most of his time holding on extra points and field goals.
