Dog Days of Summer in Headhouse Square

Twenty restaurants and food trucks competed in the South Street Headhouse District’s 3rd Annual Dog Days of Summer Cook-Off, held Saturday under the Shambles at 2nd and South Streets. General admission was free to enjoy music, crafts, and entertainment, but tastings the dogs and drinks required a ticket. There was also a competition between chefs and it was fierce. Judges Marc Summers, Danya Henninger, Carly Szkaradnik, and Philly.com's Michael Klein judged the professional chefs hot dogs. Hot Diggity’s Keith Garabedian, Drew Lazor, Josh Middleton, Audra Neff, and Julia West determined which amateur chef would win the topping contest, which featured a "Philadelphia" theme this year. Lily Vamberi, the winner of that competition, will have her creation featured for a month on the menu at Hot Diggity. Funds raised at this event go to support the preservation of the historic Headhouse Square Shambles.
