For homeowner Brenda Beiser, her six-bedroom home in Mount Airy is an urban oasis.

“Even though you’re in the city, you kind of feel like you’re not in the city,” she said. “But you still have neighbors close by.”

Now preparing to downsize with her husband, Beiser has listed the home for $1.6 million with help from Carissa Driscoll of Redfin.

As a single-family home, the light is part of what makes the space special, she says.

“Every room, I think, has light on at least two sides. The kitchen has light on four sides. Our living room has light on three sides,” said Beiser, who is also a real estate agent.

The bright kitchen also features “an oversized center island with seating, white shaker cabinetry, newer stainless steel appliances, a built-in buffet counter with a second sink, space for casual dining, and a gas fireplace,” according to the listing.

Beiser admits she didn’t originally want a pool, the centerpiece of the home’s expansive outdoor space, but has grown to love it.

“It’s fun when your kids are a certain age,” she said. And now, “I’ve had neighbors come over and host kids’ parties.”

At between 8 and 9 feet deep and spanning 19 feet by 39 feet, the chlorine pool can accommodate a diving board. It has a hookup for a gas heater, but Beiser said that by August, “honestly, the last few years it gets too hot in the pool” with the heater.

The backyard also features space for outdoor dining, a robust vegetable garden, mature trees, a pergola for shade, and a carriage house that includes a full bathroom with a shower, which Besier touts as a great makeshift pool house.

“Who wants wet people running through your house?”
